Make yourself get up in the morning- 10 tips for you
There’s a proverb "The early bird catches the worm". Do you roll your eyes annoyed at this saying? Many people would like to make themself get up earlier in the morning but they can’t. Before I learned to wake up early a few years ago, I believed that I would never be able to do this because I didn't see myself as a morning person.
Getting up
at 7am was already a feat for me. However, I often heard about the many
benefits of getting up earlier: more energy, more creativity, less distraction,
better performance, and I had a strong desire to achieve it.
The benefits of getting up early:-
a 1. You have more time for yourself:-
When you get up early in the morning, you can take your time. There is nothing worse than waking up in a hurry and starting the day on a roll. By getting up early, you start the day at your own pace. You are more serene and calm. You also have more time to prepare and organize yourself, which puts you in better shape for the da
2. You are more productive:-
Morning is
the best time to “ eat your frog ”, in other words, to accomplish your
challenging and important tasks. This is when you have the most energy and when
you are most alert and alert. This is also when you are calm and can fully
concentrate on your work without fear of being interrupted.
3. 3. You gain momentum for the day:-
When you
start your day early to accomplish your important tasks, you create a sense of
productivity and satisfaction that stays with you throughout the day. You get
extra boost to get the rest of your day off.
4. 4. It can remove the negative thoughts:-
According to a study published in the Cognitive Therapy and Research
Journal, sleeping late while getting up early is more likely to lead to
negative thoughts. It is therefore worth getting used to a proper sleep rhythm.
5 5. You can take a healthy breakfast:-
You have time for a healthy breakfast and thereby establish better eating habits. Late risers tend to skip breakfast and tend to overeat in the evening or at noon.
Why is it so difficult to get up?
To stick with the bird metaphors, one generally speaks of two different
types of sleep: the owls and the larks. Accordingly, the "owls" among
us are usually awake longer, can work well into the night without any problems, and remain productive even late at night. In the morning, however, it is
difficult to get up, body and mind only slowly get going and a good mood is
rarely expected at dawn. The larks, On the other hand, you can literally jump
out of bed in the morning and enjoy the sunrise with your first coffee, deeply
relaxed. Fit and well-rested they are the first in the morning in the office.
In return, however, their performance declines around noon or afternoon and
they fall asleep on the sofa during the after-work film at prime time.
How to make yourself get up in the morning:-
1. Go to bed early:
It's no secret: to get up
earlier, you have to go to bed earlier.
Our bodies need a certain
amount of sleep to function well and there is nothing we can do about it.
According to the National
Sleep Foundation, an adult 18 to 64 years old needs an average of 7 to 9 hours
of sleep per night to function at their best. Sleep is a natural need of the body and there is no
shortcut. Just as we need to eat and drink, we need to sleep well.
This means that if you
plan to get up earlier, you should also plan to go to bed earlier so as not to
be deprived of the amount of sleep you need. Don't neglect your sleep so you can get up earlier.
2. Light:
The body naturally wakes
up faster when it is daylight. Once the light is perceived by your body, the
brain naturally understands that it is time to get up. This is why you can
leave your shutters or curtains open slightly, in order to benefit from the
daylight when you wake up. Once awake, do not hesitate to expose yourself to the
light of day. Make a face or squint your eyes, but after a few seconds of
exposure, you'll naturally be wide awake.
3. Find a good reason to wake up early:
If you want to get up
early but don't know why you're doing it, there's a good chance you'll fall
back asleep every time your alarm goes off. So you must have a strong enough
reason to get out of bed. Something that gives you energy and motivation.
Do you want to get up
early to exercise and stay healthy?
Is it to meditate and
feel more connected and present?
Do you have a project
that is close to your heart and that you want to accomplish in the morning?
Whatever the reason, it
has to be stronger than your urge to stay warm in bed in the morning. Once you
find it, it will be easier to wake up early.
4. Develop good sleep habits:
Consistency in sleep
patterns is a key to successful waking up early.
Have you ever noticed
that when you go to bed and always get up at the same time during the week, you
tend to get up again at the same time when you are on leave?
These are called sleep
patterns.
The idea is to try as
much as possible to go to bed and get up at the same time every day (except
weekends) , so that our system gets used to this rhythm of life and has a sleep
cycle. Optimal. Try to
avoid activities that end late at night and interfere with your sleep habits as
much as possible.
5. Advance your alarm clock:
Don't panic, you'll be on
time! Take your time in the morning, it will help you get up. It's simple,
putting your alarm clock forward by 15 minutes will make for a less stressful
day and you can finally enjoy your mornings, without running all over the
place. Tip: If you wake up a few minutes before the alarm goes off, get up.
Getting back to sleep is not necessarily beneficial.
6. Place the alarm clock away from the
bed:
To start the day off
right, you have to get up on the right foot! But do we already have to put one
foot on the ground? This is why placing your alarm clock away from the bed is a
sure way to wake up. The Clocky is a small rolling alarm clock, which runs off
to help you get out of bed. Available in several colors, this alarm clock with
the look of a little character, will offer you energetic mornings.
7. Optimize your diet:
Your diet determines the
quality of your sleep. If just before bed you eat a large meal and/or drink a
lot (water/alcohol), your sleep will not be optimal. No matter how early you
go to bed and follow all of the tips you've read so far, it will still be hard
for you to get up.
To remedy this, optimize
your diet:
·
Avoid
large meals before sleeping
·
Drink
little or no alcohol
·
Don't
drink too much water to avoid getting up too often during the night to go to
the bathroom
·
Don't
drink coffee after 2 p.m.
By following these tips,
you will sleep better and have less trouble getting up early in the morning.
8. Take a shower:
The sport or the short
physical workout in the morning gives me a comfortable body feeling. Then take
a shower. Just doing well. And if I'm really brave, then I risk a cold shower.
Then the last sleepy cell is wide awake. And yes, taking a cold shower can
change your life too.
9. Prepare everything the night before:
"What is done is no longer to be done" so get rid of "thankless" tasks as soon as possible. Prepare your documents, your clothes and packed your bag the day before in order to keep only the pleasant tasks when you wake up.
10. Take
time for your body in the morning and do a short workout or go running:
Your body burns most of
the fat in the morning because it falls back on the body's emergency reserves.
If you already do sports in the morning, you ensure a great body and start the
day in a good mood.
And let's be honest: how
often do you prefer to sit on the sofa or spend a cozy evening with friends
after work instead of doing sports? If you do a short workout in the morning,
you can relax with a clear conscience after work.
Take care of your health at work and
prevent tension with healthy exercise habits.
